Context:
Medium suburban garden, full sun/part shade, adult family.

Brief:
“I want to enjoy my garden, and to be able grow things within easy reach. I like my privacy, my lawn, and the stunning views beyond my garden wall”.

Concept:
An existing, and partly retained traditional garden framework, gains a new informal and contemporary twist. An overall holistic character and inviting ambiance is achieved in the design of functional garden spaces, and bespoke built elements. Privacy enhancement and shelter creation through tree planting will, in time, frame coastal and mountain views. Considered plant selection includes specimens as points of focus, and responds to the client’s request for a low maintenance scheme.

Key elements:
Low semi-circular rendered seat walls, curved raised planter beds and gravel paths, strongly defined lawn, architectural planting, mood lighting, existing patio retained. A planned future house extension to incorporate a formal cascading water element, raised patio, and ramped access path.
